Eric Sandberg (English Pastor)
Pastor Eric Sandberg has been at CGCM since April, 2015. He and Kathy moved from the Midwest to start their time at CGCM as the youth minister. In the Fall of 2019, Eric switched to the pastor of English Ministries (LifeLight). He was ordained in August of 2020. Eric enjoys the variety of congregation members that the English ministry allows him to interact with: youth, college students, young professionals, and all other adults. His goal is to help the congregation to see Jesus as the “hero” of every story in the Bible so that they can rest in the finished work on the cross for their salvation and growth in being more like Jesus in their lives.
Pastor Eric also serves as a Military Chaplain at Hanscom Air Force Base (MA) as a Reservist. He has been in the military since 2004 and serving as a reserve chaplain since 2011.
Eric and Kathy enjoy cooking all types of food, playing with their dogs, exercising, traveling, and keeping up with their 10 nieces and nephews!
Ivan Yu 余頌恆牧師 (Youth Pastor)
Pastor Ivan Yu is a native of Massachusetts. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while growing up attending church in Chinatown. He moved to the Albany, NY area in 2010 to study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a B.S. in Science, Technology, and Society in 2014. During college, God’s call for him to serve as a pastor got stronger. He studied at the Northeast Branch of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2017. While in seminary, he interned at a Chinese-ethnic church in Albany before serving as the English Pastor there from 2016-2020 to minister to youth, college students, and young adults. God led him back to Massachusetts to pastor at CGCM in November 2020.
Pastor Ivan is very passionate about preaching God’s Word and equipping the church to defend the Christian faith for effective evangelism. He holds a Ph.D. in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty University. He is happily married to his wife, Joyce, and they have a daughter named Olive and a son named Davian. Pastor Ivan enjoys reading, writing, playing piano by ear, audio/video editing, and watching Anime.
Yaochien Chen 陳堯健牧師 (Senior Pastor)
Pastor Yaochien Chen’s family ancestral origin is from Meishan, Sichuan, China. Although He was born in Tainan, Taiwan, and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, he became a Christian believer in the United States. He graduated from the Department of Education at National Chengchi University in 1986 and served in the Taiwan Marine Corps from 1986 to 1988. He and his wife, Chen Hsiuling Lydia, were classmates in college. In 1991, they came to the United States to continue their studies in education. They both embraced Christianity and were baptized in 1992.
In 1996, Pastor Chen prepared for full-time ministry after feeling a clear calling from God to serve. In 2000, he attended Calvary Theological Seminary in Kansas City to study pastoral courses. He served in the Columbia Chinese Church and the Christian Witness Center in Missouri. After completing his Master of Divinity program in 2003, he served as a campus minister at the Christian Workers’ Center and as a pastor at the Peoria Chinese Christian Church in Illinois. He was ordained as a pastor in 2005.
From 2011 to 2017, Pastor Chen pioneered and shepherded a church in St. Louis, Missouri. Since September 2017, he has been serving at CGCM.
God has given him a passion for reading the Bible, and this passion extends to helping others enjoy reading the Scriptures. His years of experience as a pastor have given him a burden for the ministries of building up the church, strengthening marriage and family, and raising children in accordance with God’s will. Pastor Chen and his wife, Chen Hsiuling Lydia, got married in 1990 and have a son and a daughter, named Amos and Anna. Besides reading, he enjoys chatting with his wife, praying while running, expressing thoughts on Bible readings or life, learning Cantonese by watching Hong Kong dramas, and watching movies or sports games with his children. He also enjoys capturing beautiful photoraphy moments with his phone.
Min Xiao 萧民传道 (Chinese Minister)
Minister Min Xiao was born in Liaoning, China. In 1997, he went to the U.S. for studies in computer science. After graduating, he worked in software development and sales management. He was baptized in 2000. Feeling called by God, he entered China Evangelical Seminary of North America in 2017 theological training. In 2022, he began serving at CGCM. In 2023, he earned a Master of Divinity and became a full-time minister at CGCM. He and his wife, Sophia, have a son and a daughter. They enjoy playing musical instruments like piano and guitar, etc, and love watching movies, going on outings, and cooking together as a family.
Lisa Wei 魏華蓉 (Administrator)
Lisa Wei was born in Tainan City, Taiwan. She is a third-generation Christian and grew up in the church. She graduated from Tainan University of Science and Technology in 2001 and worked as an assistant marketing manager in home business. After getting married in 2005, she settled in Boston. Her husband, Mike Chang, and two sons, Terry and Gary, live in Northborough. She likes traveling with her family, doing activities with her children, and reading when she has time. She is currently the administrator of the Chinese Gospel Church of Massachusetts. CGCM is a warm and happy God’s family, and we welcome everyone to come and worship God with us!
Roujen Ho 何若珍牧師 (Former Senior Pastor)
Pastor Ruo Zhen Ho was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He graduated from the Economics Department of Tunghai University in Taiwan in 1978. In 1980, he came to the United States to continue his studies in economics in Connecticut. He joined CGCM in 1985 to serve. After his first visit to mainland China in 1992, he felt the calling to prepare for full-time ministry. Between 1998 and 2000, he pursued religious studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. After completing the program in July 2000, he officially accepted the church’s invitation to serve as a minister at the CGCM. He was ordained as a pastor in 2002.
His main areas of focus include marriage and family education, biblical theology education, Chinese missionary training, and training for church workers. He and his wife, Yu Liping, currently reside in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. His interests are diverse, including rowing, golfing, playing the guitar, and more.
